Rev. Dr. Liz Hill O’Shea

Founder and Lead Pastor

Between 2002 and 2013, Liz lived in South Korea before returning to the UK. From 2005, she worked as an associate pastor in one of the largest mega-churches in Seoul and preacher on CGNTV until becoming founding pastor of Bethel Trust Port Talbot. Liz’s passion is connecting people to God.

Her primary employment experience includes establishment of a charity and church, university lecturing, Bible teaching, overseas missionary work, published author, overseeing and growing ministries and pastoral work. Specifically:

  • University lecturer and Level Leader at EWHA University, Seoul (2003-2005), and lecturer at Hongik University, Seoul (2005 – 2008).
  • Assistant pastor (2005 and 2008) and later Associate pastor (2008 and 2011) at Onnuri Community Church, Seoul. During that time she oversaw discipleship ministries, new members’ ministries, Alpha, premarital training and Women’s Ministry. She also led mission trips to Haiti, Taiwan and also Japan and preached regularly in the Church.
  • Christian Global Network Television preacher (2008 to 2012) – teaching God’s Word to 150 countries worldwide. This was the television ministry of Onnuri Community Church.
  • EBS Radio co-presenter (2006 – 2007)

Upon returning to the UK, Liz founded registered charity, Bethel Trust Port Talbot, which incorporates Bethel Community Church (of which she is Lead Pastor) and Bethel Leadership College among other ministries. This pioneering role specifically includes:

Michele Matthews

Assistant Pastor

Michele Matthews has a heart for ALL people. God led her to Bethel Community Church where she graduated from Bethel Leadership College August 2016 with a Diploma in Christian Ministry and Leadership.

Michele oversees the Women’s Ministry and Newcomers Ministry at Bethel. She is also involved in Prison Ministry, Deliverance Ministry, Healing Ministry, preaching and Street Outreach. Michele also encourages peace and unity within the different ethnic and religious groups within our Communities via her Facebook page:  Muslims Christians & Everyone United.

Michele is married to Aaron and has six children and three grandchildren.

Shaun O’Keefe

Assistant Pastor

Since I was four years old I new God had his hand on my life and was calling me to the ministry. But I tried to do it by myself not allowing God to do the work. I became an alcoholic and lost everything, living for drink. When I hit rock bottom admitted my need of God to help me, and He did. He set me free from alcohol addiction ten years ago and has been healing and restoring me. God has given me a desire to reach lost and broken people. Helping them to know freedom in Christ and finding their call and purpose for their lives. As a pastor, I am able to the work with God’s help and not on my own but part of the team at Bethel.

Anthony Hill

Worship Leader / Celebrate Recovery Leader

Anthony Hill is the worship leader at Bethel Community Church. He has considerable experience in both leading worship and in small group bible studies. He loves supporting new members of the church in their understanding and knowledge of God and the Word and how it relates to today’s society.

During the last twelve months, he has undertaken two missionary trips to Tennessee, USA to work with the Friendship World Outreach Church, where he led worship and preached the Word at many of the weekly meetings. Most recently he has been involved in supporting drug and alcohol users and homeless persons in Tennessee with their understanding of God and how the Bible can help them to address their issues. Previous missionary works includes a visit to Uganda where he primarily focused on preaching and also praying for the sick.

His hope is to use these experiences and skills to bring the good news of Christ’s healing and redeeming ministry to South Wales and in particular the Neath Port Talbot area.

Sally Lewis

Jubilee Drop-in Centre Manager

Sally has been serving voluntary at Bethel since 2015, serving the homeless and those struggling with practical needs. Sally has a real heart to support and show mercy to those struggling with hard life issues. She is supported by her partner, Andy. They have two dogs, Tank and Gizzy.

On 1st October 2018, we were delighted that she came on staff as the Jubilee Drop-in Centre Manager, which provides a variety of free services to the local community, including free food, clothing, benefits advice, form filling, help with job searches, IT skills, help for ex-offenders and their families, and also addiction recovery support. The Drop-in Centre operates out of Bethel Community Church on Sandfields Road, Aberavon, Port Talbot, SA12 6LR.

  • Sally graduated in August 2018 with a Diploma in Christian Ministry and Leadership
  • Sally has completed a variety of training including Safeguarding, POVA, First Aid for Adults and Paediatrics.

Dawn Griffiths

Overseas Missions Director

Dawn came on board as a staff member in September 2016 as an Evangelist. Anyone who knows Dawn knows that her heart beats to share the Gospel with those who don’t yet know Christ.

Dawn also oversees Mission at Bethel Community Church, and loves to find creative ways of sharing the gospel and enabling people to grow in their relationship with God.

Dawn graduated from Bethel Leadership College in August 2016 with a Diploma in Christian Ministry and Leadership.
