Our vision at Bethel Community Church is to see God move in power through the people of Port Talbot and beyond. We believe that it is God’s desire to bring salvation, healing (body, mind and soul) and restoration to people’s lives, no matter what their background.

Our Sunday Community

We meet on Sundays at 11.30am and everyone is welcome. We accept everyone, no matter whether it’s your first time through church doors, have been away from God for many years, just come out of prison, are homeless, struggling with addictions, or have been going to church for many years – you are most welcome. It is our heartfelt desire to create a loving culture at Bethel, full of God’s grace and Biblical truth and to see God’s purpose fulfilled in your life.

Through the ministry of Bethel, we work to create real disciples of Jesus Christ, men, women and children who love God and have a heart to do His work in their lives, and to go wherever He calls. To foster spiritual growth, we offer a number of bible study communities and fellowship groups (there are more to follow). Please refer to the ‘What we do’ drop down link for more information.

Cornerstone Community Cafe

In January 2015, we opened the doors of our new community cafe. By day it’s a regular cafe, an oasis where people can find refreshment both physically and emotionally, and a place to get to know people in the local community. In the evenings and on weekends, it’s a ministry hub where we run activities including Celebrate Recovery, Bible studies, CAP money management courses, youth meetings, and leadership training.

Bethel Leadership College (BLC)

BLC aims to provide a challenging learning environment that builds people’s skills and equip them to reach their full potential in Jesus Christ. We train, disciple, develop and coach Christians to fulfill their God-given purpose in life, becoming effective and productive leaders in their personal ministry and work contexts.

All our programmes are based on our DRIVE approach to assure a comprehensive and Christian equipping process

  • DEFINE and discover God’s purpose for your life
  • RECOGNISE your personal strengths, spiritual gifts and authentic leadership model
  • INSTRUCT you in Biblical Truth and it’s practical life application for your work and personal life
  • VISION casting for your Christian service to do His work
  • ENABLE and encourage you to grow in your relationship with God

Diploma in Christian Ministry and Leadership

The diploma is a two-year part-time undergraduate course, which aims to equip those who desire to serve God in a number of ministry areas, including:

  • Pastor / Preacher
  • Evangelist
  • Children’s Minister
  • Youth Minister
  • Worship Leader
  • Healer
  • Men’s / Women’s Minister
  • Administrator

Every summer we run our “Passion for Purpose” course created by Will and Liz Linssen, which is  the prerequisite to registering for the two year Diploma course, and is open to people attending from any church in the local area.

Reproducible Church Planting Model

It is our desire to raise up and train ministers to go out and plant churches to wherever God sends them. We don’t just want to be a church that grows large in number for the sake of it – we want to expand God’s kingdom beyond our own immediate community, and plan on sending out teams from within Bethel to do that as God leads.

Hour of Power (Prayer Ministry)

Our ‘Hour of Power’ is open to anyone who would like to come and receive prayer and ministry. We meet every Monday evening between 7pm and 8pm at Cornerstone Cafe, Victoria Road, Port Talbot. We believe prayer is absolutely essential to see God move in power and grace in our lives and community. We also have a Healing Team, and have seen God do many wonderful miracles among us.
