“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and miraculous signs were done by the Apostles. All the believers were together rand had everything in common. “ (Acts 2 verses 42 to 44)

Here we see a picture of the very beginning of Early Church life from the first century, a community through which they grew in faith in God and in community with other believers. This is what Jesus Christ has called the church, you and I, to be all about. As pastor Andy Stanley writes, “Creating environments where authentic community can take place. Building relational, transforming communities where people are experiencing oneness with God and oneness with one another. Creating communities that are so satisfying and so compelling that they create thirst and desire in a watching world.” (Taken from “Creating Community” by Stanley and Willits, 39-45)

The goal then of our bible study groups at BCC can be summarised into three categories:

  1. Connecting – the growing sense of community with an identified group of people
  2. Changing – the spiritual and relational transformation into the likeness of Christ
  3. Cultivating – the missional lifestyle: evangelism or serving others.

At BCC, we believe that each of these is important in the lives of individuals and therefore encourage everyone who attends to join a small group bible study, no matter where you are on your spiritual journey: an explorer, a new believer, or walking with God for many years. Everyone needs to join a small group for their personal and spiritual growth and development.
